Wouldn't Elemental Resistance prove to be better thatn Mantral of Fire?
Other than that, this build seems promisin. I will give it a go and leave some feedback tomorrow.

no mantra of fire is good for energy, and elemental resistance would reduce armor vs physical, and im pretty sure that the hydras hit for physical damage when they arent hitting with meteor and fireball etc

The pecks from a Hydra are negligible at best, especially against Warrior armor + Dolyak + Watch Yourself. Elemental Resistance is the better stance. I've trield them both, trust me. And Bo knows a thing or two about Hydras...

nice setup very nice , but like kvdoom said , ele rsistance is far better +40 armor is better than the dmg reducment of the mantra , if neeed energy so bad us a zealous hilt u only have 1 energy cost skill. in fact u could knock down ins to 6 with ele resistance and then put strength up to 12.
*shakes fist at kvndooms 716+ hydra claws* grrr i got 336 but i gave up hydras....way to boring.

Plus you are only using 2 skills that require any energy, so elemental attunement is definately better....and I have tried both with an axe build.

And you could drop your Sever Artery skill, you don't need it to cause a deep wound or bleeding, due to Deadly Riposte doing it for you.
Can replace it with Desperation Blow or a Strength skill of choice. Maybe an interrupt for their Inferno? Distracting Blow interrupt's adjacent targets so you wouldn't even have to swap targets, just click the button.

I was unaware there were 'elite hydras'.
(I have learned from experience to add this disclaimer's note that the above is a play on words, a joke.)

thanks everyone for the input, i switched in desperation blow or whatever and i really liked that a lot
i just cant spam now without mantra of fire. with ele resistance i didnt notice much of a difference either? meteor went from like 27 to 20? so i might end up switching mantra of fire back in becuase it works better for the build i run

im running a similar build:
sever, gash, victory is mine, rip, readly rip, dol sig, ele res, heal sig
16tact, 12 str, 3 swords
i find i never have to use heal sig and am contemplating dropping it for something more useful. with said attributes, i gain 72 health per condition off ViM and thats more than enough to keep me alive (144 or 144+72 each use) even in groups of 6 or 7 hydras.

And if you want to do a lot more damage easily, you can customize your sword. (because it's not like 17% while hexed helps).
Instead +20% dmg for the win.

Very similar to my build...have you tried:
sever
gash
riposte
epidemic
dolyak
victory is mine
ele res
healing sig
Can remove healing sig for deadly riposte or sprint to farm faster. Basically sever and gash the first, wait till surrounded, hit epidemic, then use victory is mine....this heals a lot and you gain all the energy cost of the epidemic plus ele res!
